Gooseberry Falls State Park
Minnesota has a great variety of wilderness landscapes and wildflowers which outdoors enthusiasts will appreciate.  Much of this is readily accessible in our  parks and trails across the state.  A favorite area in northern Minnesota lies along the 'North Shore' of Lake Superior, and includes much of the Superior Hiking Trail, as well as eight of our sixty-five State Parks.

A very diverse, and often unique, variety of wonderful wildflowers are to be found growing in many places here.  There are over 1700 species of flowering plants that are wild in Minnesota, as wilderness plants, shrubs, trees, natural greenery, and even weeds, or just wildflowers.  Our state flower is the Showy Lady's Slipper.

Spring is a warmly pleasing season and a time for the woodland wildflowers to bloom.  In the summer the open roadsides and prairies are overflowing with prairie wildflowers.  And in the autumn, our trees and grasses take over with their brilliant fall colors.  This is the time when Minnesota lanscapes can be gazed upon with awe.

The most informative way to display my experience with the wildflowers and scenery of Minnesota is to show my photography by areas and places that I have visited over the years.  Special focus will be on our beautiful and friendly state parks where I have hiked many of the trails.   Each  place highlighted below will display photos of that area, as well as free screensavers/wallpapers to download.  The photos will have descriptions such as what, when and where they can be found as well as their locations marked on a scale map of the area.

So now please enjoy the photos and screensavers.   Simply mouse-click on a place to go there.
